Traidphicnic

Meanwhile, down the road, what started as an idea over a few tunes around Studio Cuan in An Spidéal from Bridget Barker, Marianne Ní Chinnéide, Andrea Rossi, Rosaleen Ní Shúilleabhán, Pádraig Ó Dubhghaill and friends is now going to be a two day festival called Traidphicnic, on 6 and 7 July, celebrating not only traditional music but also many other local talents such as artisan food, craft, art, storytelling, theatre, walking, and swimming. To add to that, all this will be happening while Galway City, down the road, welcomes the Galway Volvo Ocean Race Finale.

Look out for music by Charlie Lennon, Triúr (Peadar Ó Riada, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Martin Hayes), the Bonny Men, the Kane Sisters, Líadán, Danny O’Mahon, Paul Bradley and others; as well as dance by Seosamh Ó Neachtain and Marian Ní Chonghaile, drama from Gliondar, poetry and literature with Seán Ó Coistealbha, art from Ealaíontóirí Cois Fharraige.

There will also be workshops, artisan food from local producers and restaurants, guided walks, pub sessions, yoga on the beach, and informal Irish classes with our wandering minstrels.
