Manchester Camerata issue call for Composer in Residence

Up to two composers will be selected to take part in the residency, which runs until summer 2012.

Manchester Camerata

Manchester Camerata (Manchester, England), is looking for ‘up to two’ composers to take part in a new Composer in Residence programme. During the 2011/2012 season, participating composers will create new works ranging from multiple chamber works to a single ten-minute work for chamber orchestra, as well as participating in workshops and open rehearsals. A mentor will also be assigned to each composer.

Each composer involved will need to allocate approximately forty days to the residency, but a small bursary will be made available to account for the composers’ time and expenses such as the preparation of parts. The travel and accommodation costs for those living outside Manchester may also be covered.

The residency, which is part of Sound and Music’s Embedded programme, will run from May 2011 until summer 2012. Any citizen or resident of the UK in the early stages of their career may apply, as long as they are not in full-time undergraduate education. The deadline for applications is 18 April 2011.
