National Chamber Choir Tour Ireland

The National Chamber Choir and Paul Hillier will tour a programme of Irish and Irish-inspired music in April.

Paul Hillier by Joao Messias

The National Chamber Choir will tour across Ireland in April with their current Artistic Director Paul Hillier. The tour is entitled ‘An Irish Colloquy’, a theme that manifests in the concert programme being made up of music written either by Irish composers or on Irish texts.

Enda Bates (Pauper’s Lament / A Stealing Sadness), David Fennessy (Choirland), Piers Hellawell (Isabella’s Banquet) and Frank Corcoran (Caoineadh) are the featured Irish composers. Music by Tarik O’Regan, Arvo Pärt and Nicholas Maw, all of it based on Irish texts, in Pärt’s case on St Patrick’s Breastplate, will also be performed.

The tour travels to Wicklow on 18 April, then on consecutive days to Waterford, Galway, Kilkenny and Dublin.
