RTÉ have announced that, ‘due to ongoing cost-cutting measures within RTÉ’, the National Symphony Orchestra’s Soundings pre-concert event at the National Concert Hall in Dublin will not take place on 18 May. In addition, the Late Night concert, which was to feature Finghin Collins and RTÉ NSO Principals performing Mozart, will now be re-scheduled to a later date.
The main programme of the evening will go ahead. Pascal Rophé will conduct Ravel’s Suite No. 2 from Daphnis et Chloé, and Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, in addition to pianists Jean-Efflam and Andrea Bavouzet in Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos.
