The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s summer season will be launched with a gala concert on 1 June at the National Concert Hall, featuring Irish soprano Celine Byrne performing operatic favourites from Dvořák, Gounoud and others. Byrne stepped in memorably in Dvořák’s Rusalka at the Royal Opera House in London this year.

The season continues throughout the summer with €10 lunchtime concerts, beginning on 12 June and running weekly until 24 July, and Friday evening concerts from 15 June to 27 July. The latter feature premieres from Linda Buckley (Surge) and American composer Eli Marshall (Déjà vu {Music in a Romantic Style for a Film}), in addition to, amongst other highlights, four concerts directed by soloists from the orchestra, Helena Wood (violin), James Crabb (accordion), Dennis Kim (violin) and Elaine Clark (violin).

All of the concerts will be broadcast on RTÉ Lyric FM.
