Sam Jackson, a pianist and composer best known for his film and theatre work, will perform at the Model, Sligo, on 5 October, and the Druid Lane Theatre, Galway, on 10 October as part of an Irish tour to mark the release of his new album, Sharp and Flat.
The album features five different pianos, a vintage Fender Rhodes keyboard and was recorded in studios in Ireland and New Zealand, various flats and a tree-house in Kilkenny. Jackson says the album ‘was conceived in New Zealand and born in Ireland’.
Jackson, who worked for seven years as Moya Brennan’s keyboard player, has composed frequently for Garry Hynes and Druid Theatre. He will be joined by Shane O’Donovan (drums) and Dave Mooney (double bass) for the performances.
