Sebastian Adams in Final of Belgian Competition

A young Irish composer, Sebastian Adams, is through to the final of the Sorodha International Composition Competition. The prize is awarded for a composition written for solo violin.

A young Irish composer, Sebastian Adams, is through to the final of the Sorodha International Composition Competition, which is based in Antwerp, Belgium. The prize is awarded for a composition written for solo violin. Composers of all ages were could enter; of a total of 119 applicants, eight were chosen for the final round.

All eight works chosed will be performed in Antwerp on 25 March 2012. The winner will be announced at the event.

Adams is a student on the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s BA in Composition course, where he studies with Kevin O’Connell. Son of the pianist and organist David Adams, he was born in Amsterdam but has lived in Dublin since the age of five. Sebastian Adams previously won the West Cork Chamber Music Festival’s composition competition for his String Quartet No. 1.
