Sky Arts to Fund Young Artists

The application deadline for the second round of Sky Arts funding for young artists is approaching. Applicants should be aged between eighteen and thirty and based in the UK or Ireland.

Sponsored by Sky, the broadcasting corporation, Sky Arts was set up to fund young artists working in visual art, theatre, performance art, film, music, dance or literature. The two winners of the first round of funding under the ‘Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund’ scheme were recently announced as opera director Daisy Evans and animator Phoebe Boswell. Speaking about the award, Evans, who will create a new ‘silent opera’ production, said, ‘This is a huge, huge opportunity and if people are considering applying then they really need to believe that they have something worth speaking about and that people want to hear

A total of £30,000 (€35,850) has been allocated for the second round of funding, for which applications should be submitted by Friday, 24 February 2012. Applicants should be aged between eighteen and thirty and based in the UK or Ireland. The funding scheme is run in collaboration with the arts organisation IdeasTap, and applicants members of IdeasTap before applying (registration is free).
