TrinityThe Music and Multimedia Technologies masters course in Trinity College, Dublin (right), will host a presentation of graduating students’ work in the form of a concert and an exhibition at the Samuel Beckett Theatre on the university campus. Titled ‘The Space Between’, the work is said to explore ‘multimedia works that fall between the cracks of traditional definitions and forge for themselves a new place within contemporary art’.

The concert performance will take place on Thursday, 28 April 2011 at 7.30pm, and the exhibition will run from 28 to 29 April.

The concert includes work by thirteen artists, including, for example, A New Romance by Ciarán McCann, which uses Nintendo Wii controllers to generate a realtime audiovisual piece, or Anna Murray’s The Echoes, which maps prerecorded and live sounds to a text by the poet Gerald Manley Hopkins.

Works in the exhibition include Sinéad Meaney’s Submerge, in which ‘sensations are felt rather than heard through a quadrophonic subwoofer array’ and The XtAVE, a working example of a new musical notation devised by Karl Chadwick to suit a range of tuning systems.
