Tujacques Album Launch

Trinity College professor Matthew Causey's band combines Louisiana rhythm-and-blues with punk and alt-country in an academic experiment-turned-band.

Matthew Causey is a Texas-born but Dublin-resident musician and film expert, who is bringing the rhythm-and-blues of Louisiana to his own brand of mixed influences in Tujacques. Causey, who is also Associate Professor of Drama at Trinity College Dublin, was brought to music along an academic path: via an exploration of authenticity in digital culture, leading to a desire to create a fusion band unique in the Irish scene. Tujacques is that, bringing together some of Ireland’s foremost musicians in a blend of gospel, punk and Delta blues.

Tujacques also features Si Schroeder’s Bryan O’Connell on drums, singer-songwriter Rhianna Clarke on backing vocals, and Matthew Nolan of 3epkano. They will launch their debut album, recorded at Windmill Lane Studios, at The Workman’s Club on 12 July, as part of the 10 Days in Dublin festival.
