Welcome to the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music is the creative hub of the Institute and is home to an exciting and innovative range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including creative media, film and TV production, music and theatre. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities including TV and recording studios, performance spaces and discipline-specific lab spaces. We host a popular series of public events including concerts, exhibitions, showcases and conferences that enrich the cultural life of the Institute and region. We are very proud of the contribution of our graduates to the region and their successes in their chosen careers. As a student in the Department, there are many opportunities to collaborate with students in other creative disciplines and with our partner universities across the world. The Department has an important role to play in the Institute as it fulfils many of the Institute’s strategic objectives in the areas of outreach and engagement and research while continuing to provide an enriching and supportive learning environment for students.

Graduate Showcase - Fís

Throughout the year we host a range of events to showcase our student work including film screenings and performances by our music and theatre students. Fís is the final showcase of graduate student work from the Department and is a wonderful event in which to celebrate the achievements of our students who have worked so hard to produce their projects and installations being exhibited as part of Fís.

There is great diversity of work being undertaken by our students. While the students on each of these programmes have a different focus on their programme of study, each student has the opportunity to develop their skills in creativity.
