Producer, BBC Radio 1 Music Team
BBC Radio 1 is seeking a Producer to join the Music Team.
You will also work with the Editor to ensure that the station’s DJs deliver the music policy with authenticity, accuracy and enthusiasm. The role also works alongside the Live Music & Events team to develop events and opportunities for live music across the network, as well as helping deliver live music projects to air.
You’ll be required to spot changing trends within the contemporary music scene and ensure that music policy reflects these as appropriate. You will also forge great links between Radio 1 and the music industry: record companies, artists and artist management, particularly in the UK and represent internally and externally on all matters relating to Radio 1 music & music policy.
The Ideal Candidate
– Extensive knowledge of and experience across the full range of contemporary music genres.
– A highly developed understanding of the lifestyle of young music fans.
– Expert knowledge of the principles and techniques required to deliver music policy on the radio e.g. clocks and playlists.
– Working knowledge of music scheduling software e.g. Powergold.
– Evidence of establishing and sustaining productive relationships in the music industry.
– An ability to interpret and use market and audience research data.
– Enthusiasm for radio and appreciation of how audiences use digital media and platforms.
– Good contacts and ways of finding content from different sources.
– Knowledge of techniques of audio and content production and its use on multiple platforms.
