Wood Quay Summer Sessions: Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh & Mick O'Brien

Thursday, 23 July 2020, 1.00pm

Wood Quay Summer Sessions return in July for a series of online lunchtime concerts broadcast from Dublin City Council’s beautiful Wood Quay Venue. Now in its sixth year, this ever-popular outdoor series is moving online for 2020, with four unique online concerts streaming from 1pm on Thursdays throughout July on the Wood Quay Summer Sessions Facebook page.

Fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and uilleann piper Mick O’Brien share their vast and beautiful collection of Irish traditional melodies in the third session of the series, presented by Music Network.

From Ó Raghallaigh’s widely admired mastery of the bow, to O’Brien’s exceptional craftsmanship of the pipes, expect a stunning collaboration with tunes such as The Morning Dew, Rolling in the Ryegrass and more.

Sit back, let your toes tap and enjoy this duo’s exquisite performance.

Founded by Dublin City Council and presented in association with Improvised Music Company, Contemporary Music Centre, Music Network and First Music Contact, the Wood Quay Summer Sessions allow music fans to experience an incredible mix of music from new and established traditional, jazz, contemporary and alt-rock acts.

This year, the online Sessions will feature mesmerising new jazz from BigSpoon, a programme of music by leading women composers from Ireland performed by Cassiopeia Winds, glorious traditional music from Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Mick O’Brien and fresh alt-rock tunes from PowPig.

In addition to the video performances from the four acts, Dublin's Near FM 90.3 will broadcast the concerts each Thursday at 6pm, alongside behind-the-scenes chats with the artists.
