RATOATH : CELEBRATING IRISH-POLISH FRIENDSHIP EVENING

Polish – Irish Concert

This 2 hour concert forms part of our RATOATH : CELEBRATING IRISH-POLISH FRIENDSHIP EVENING on Friday August 23rd. The concert will be preceded by a short ceremony commemorating the 77th Anniversary of the death of Polish pilot Boleslaw Josef Sawiak who died after crash landing his plane in Ratoath on August 23rd 1942. The Evening will also include an upstairs Exhibition on the events of that date in 1942 as well as Exhibits on the Polish city of his birth, Przemysl and on the life of Poland’s first diplomat to Ireland, Consul Dobrzynski.

The concert will feature the SuperTonic Orchestra playing their repertoire of Polish folk music, our local resident, Catherine McEvoy fresh from winning the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Musician of the Year award with her repertoire of great Irish traditional music, award winning dancers from Poland and Ireland and one great celebratory jam with all the musicians on stage to close the concert
