Marketing Manager

Wednesday, 9 October 2019, 5.00pm

BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales is at the heart of the cultural landscape of Wales, occupying a distinctive and unique role as a broadcast Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra that plays the soundtracks of some of the BBC’s best shows, including Atlantis, Sherlock, Blue Planet, Doctor Who, and many more.

As a Symphony Orchestra, BBC NOW is entering a new chapter of leadership, whereby a new Orchestra Director and Orchestra Conductor will be joining in 2020, offering opportunities for creativity and innovation for the team.

As Marketing Manager of BBC NOW, you would have the opportunity to take advantage of this new era of innovation and creativity, and lead a marketing strategy which not only excites our existing audiences, but also brings in new and diverse audiences.

Main Responsibilities:
As the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for leading the marketing team, who are skilled in digital, social media, communications, data and audiences. Alongside this you will work closely with the BBC Wales marketing team, to take advantage of and leverage each other’s output. You will also build relationships with partner organisations such as the Arts Council of Wales and concert venues.

You will make an impact by creating a marketing strategy which employs the skills of your team and the use of audience data and research to grow and diversify the BBC NOW audiences. You will bring creative methods and techniques to the role, which are able to reach people in new ways and create excitement and engagement with the audiences.

Are you the right candidate?
As the right candidate, you will be a strong marketer, who understands how to use data in strategic decision making and direction. To be successful in the role, you will need to understand digital and social media marketing and be able to undertake a PR and communications role for the Orchestra.

An arts or entertainment background is important, as you will need to be able to get to know our audiences, however this does not necessarily have to be orchestral experience. A passion for the output BBC NOW creates, and the art behind it however will be critical for the role.

As the manager of the marketing team, you will be a people manager, who can lead, inspire and enable the group to do their best work.

Above all, a consideration of diversity and inclusion will be at the core of all of your professional practices, and you will maintain and enhance the BBC’s commitment to diversity in all that you do.

We are intending to hold interviews for this role on 28th October 2019.
