Return to London Town Festival 2022 - Concertina Workshop - Paddy Egan
RETURN TO LONDON TOWN FESTIVAL 2022 - LONDON'S 24th FESTIVAL OF TRADITIONAL IRISH MUSIC, SONG AND DANCE
Instrumental Workshops £10
Paddy Egan was born in Parkbridge, county Wicklow. He inherited his love of Irish traditional music from his parents who still run the family pub, Egans. The great musicians who would pass through the pub in the 1990s were a major influence. Paddy was guided with private lessons from the late great Wexford concertinist Larry Kinsella, learning Larry's unique "system" of playing for over 8 years. During this time, Paddy also ranked in several Comhaltas All-Ireland concertina competitions. He has lived in multiple cities around Ireland, in London and San Francisco, developing a wide repertoire and running sessions. He has played in several bands, performed at countless concerts, made numerous TV and radio appearances, and teaches concertina regularly. He is currently a lecturer at UCC in Cork, bringing his research on Irish traditional music and archives into the burgeoning field of Digital Humanities. His debut solo album, Tobar Gan Trá was released in March 2022 to great acclaim.
