Delving further into the Wavy Bow Collection

John Carty explores more of the music from The Wavy Bow Collection

Following the recent release of their duet album The Wavy Bow Collection John and James Carty will be holding (see below re number) Zoom base workshops/information sessions. During these sessions they will focus on some of the material from the album The Wavy Bow collection. The tunes will be broken down and gone through slowly illustrating unique stylistic traits and nuances. Also, the source, background and historical context will be explained. The sessions will be interactive allowing you to ask questions. The workshops are free and open to musicians of an intermediate standard as well as to anybody who would just be interested in learning a little about the origins and sources of the tunes. Attendance is capped at 30, participants and spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Workshop 2 - Sunday 6th December at 4pm. John will explore further tunes from The Wavy Bow Collection including:

1. An unique Sligo version of the Geese in the Bog

2.Drummer Boy Flings sourced from the Four Provinces Ceili band from Philadelphia

3. Corkscrew Hill / The Knockauns / Spectacle Bridge - Three compositions from extraordinary flute player Michael Hynes

4. Mazurkas - Peeler’s Creek / Verona’s Mazurka
