Droichead Arts Centre Presents Aoife and the Children of Lir as part of Cruinniú na nÓg

A story on film. The second part of our trilogy of short stories on film for young people, Aoife and The Children of Lir, brought to you by storyteller/writer Grainne Rafferty and young film maker Ewan McNulty. This film will premiere on Droichead's YouTube Channel at 12pm on Sat 12 Jun.

Following on from Selkie for last year’s Cruinniú na nÓg, Droichead is delighted to produce this new short film, based on The Children of Lir, but not as you know it..

Aoife and the Children of Lir,

’tis a dangerous thing to dismiss somebody with nothing left to lose. Who was the wicked stepmother, changer of children to swans? a lost bird herself in a cage not of her choosing. A mere pawn to be shuffled off at the first inkling of wants or desires of her own. How dare she…how very dare she….

Age 12+

Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people. The inaugural Cruinniú na nÓg took place on 23rd June 2018 with over 500 events taking place in cities, towns and villages across the country and is now in its 4th year.

Funded by Creative Ireland and Droichead Arts Centre as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2021.
