Northern Connection: Open Call for New Works

Sunday, 19 June 2022, 6.00pm

OPEN CALL for a new work for NORTHERN CONNECTION: an international collaboration aiming to establish new creative links between Scotland, Finland and Norway.

Scotland, Finland and Norway are joining together in partnership to commission and premiere three new works. Each country will be represented by a composer, an ensemble and a contemporary music festival.

SCOTLAND: Scottish Music Centre/Sound Festival/Red Note Ensemble

FINLAND: Music Finland/MusicaNova Festival/defunensemble

NORWAY: Music Norway/Ultima Festival/Ensemble Temporum

Each country’s selected commission will be performed by one of the ensembles at a festival in at least one of the partner countries, and possibly more. A jury of festival directors will select the three winning composers in late June/early July: the pieces will be composed in summer/autumn 2022 and pieces will be rehearsed from late 2022.

Scotland’s organisations are now looking to commission a Scottish composer for this project.

Key dates:
Deadline for submissions: 6pm, Sunday 19th June 2022
Decision: By Monday 11th July 2022
