Fionnuala Moynihan @ Kilkenny Arts Festival 2019

Monday, 12 August 2019, 3.30pm

Fionnuala Moynihan is one of Ireland’s leading classical pianists, celebrated for her monumental multi-concert performances of great piano cycles, including the complete piano sonatas of both Mozart and Haydn and Bach’s Goldberg Variations. For her solo debut at the Festival she explores the work of the Romantic composer and pianist, Clara Schumann, whose Variations on a theme by her husband, Robert Schumann, so moved Brahms that he immediately composed his own, while her Three Romances (Drei Romanzen) sent King George V of Hanover into raptures.

Clara Schumann, Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op. 20
Clara Schumann, Piano Sonata in G minor
Clara Schumann, Drei Romanzen, Op. 21
