Come along to the Ulster Hall, Belfast on 04 August 2022 for the first event in this year’s series of FREE BBC Radio 3 Summer Invitation Concerts with the Ulster Orchestra.

3 soloists – all winners of international competitions – make their Ulster Hall debut, together with the dynamic young British conductor Angus Webster, and returning favourites Jessica Cottis and Jac Van Steen.

This programme spans the romantic to the contemporary, including Elgar’s monumental Cello Concerto, written in the aftermath of the First World War.

The soloist is Gabriel Schwabe, a laureate of three of the world‘s most prestigious cello competitions: the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann in Berlin, the Concours Rostropovich in Paris and the Pierre Fournier Award in London.

Angus Webster, a former student of Esa-Pekka Salonen and winner of the 2018 Jorma Panula International Conducting Competition, conducts.
