David Keenan: Alchemy & Prose, a Concert Film

David Keenan: Alchemy & Prose, a Concert Film

Sunday, 8 November 2020, 7.00pm

Available online from 8 to 15 November.

David Keenan is a mercurial, forward-thinking talent from Ireland. His music floats, his words are wandering and questing, woven into songs that can be urgent, or solemn or joyful as the song demands. If you want your songwriters to have the epic sweep of Van Morrison, the high notes of Tim Buckley, and the soul of Samuel Beckett, then David is your man. In recent years, David has cut his teeth on tour perfecting his unforgettable live shows with acclaimed songwriters such as Hozier, Mick Flannery, Damien Dempsey and others.

“‘Alchemy & Prose’ is a story about the feeling of hope that Music brings to our lives. Creating communities, a sense of identity and the realisation of dreams. This is the end of the beginning.” - David Keenan, October 2020.

‘Alchemy & Prose: a concert film’ takes the viewer on an adventure with David Keenan, the gifted young singer and storyteller from Dundalk. From fuzzy footage of early open-mic nights, through sleeping in ditches and building a live following and scene-stealing kids, before arriving at Dublin’s historic and beloved Olympia Theatre on January 13th 2020.

The film is a collaboration between David Keenan and The Collective.

An album - ‘Alchemy & Prose: live recordings’ - is out now on Rubyworks.
