BBC Philharmonic: Tippett, Arnold & Gipps
The orchestra are under the baton of Rumon Gamba for this afternoon’s concert, a live broadcast for BBC Radio 3.
Commissioned for the 40th anniversary of the BBC, we hear Tippett’s Praeludium scored for brass, bells & percussion, with each section conveying a different emotional character.
Our concert ends with the Third Symphony from Ruth Gipps a composer whose music is considered underrated, and before it, Malcolm Arnold’s Symphony for Strings
