The RTÉ Internship Programme 2020 has been created in line with our People Strategy to mirror the nation’s diversity.  This is an opportunity to be part of a group of interns from every background, who will work across a range of exciting projects and who will make a real and creative impact on our services.  Your talent will be recognised, encouraged and developed. This could be the first step in changing or launching your career. The programme will initially involve internships in areas across the organisation including Content, News and Current Affairs, RTÉ Online and Commercial.

Who we are?
The Young People’s department RTÉ is responsible for commissioning and creating RTÉ’S content output for the 0 – 12’s audience.  Currently we have 2 distinct content streams, TV/Online and Radio/Podcast with our team split and working on each of the streams. The majority of our work revolves around liaising with external production companies whom we commission to create our content and also engaging with our viewers across our digital platforms website/app and social channels. We are a small but perfectly formed team, working together to achieve our end goal which is the delivery of top class content in an easy to access, entertaining and informative way. 

What you’ll be doing?
Reporting to the Group Head of Children’s & Young People’s Content, this role will give you the opportunity to help us to further engage and connect with our audiences on our various digital platforms.  Whether it is working with our existing team to help roll out campaigns or creating campaigns that will engage the 0 – 12’s audience and their parents, you will be a creative team player who can roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. Using your understanding of our audience and how best to engage with them, you will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of various platforms and have ideas on how best to utilise them. 

Who you are?

  • You are curious and creative
  • A self starter who can work independently
  • An ideas person.
  • You should have good sense of humour, who can write good copy age appropriate scripts and promos. 
  • You should be familiar with social media platforms and how they can best be used to serve our audiences. 
  • You should have interest in learning about both audio & visual content.
  • A self shooter & editing capability or at least an interest to learn about self shooting and editing

This position will be offered from January to December 2020, with a salary of €25,080 per annum pro-rata.
