SOLO | Steo Wall

Saturday, 12 March 2022, 3.00pm

SOLO returns to Droichead Arts Centre in March 2022 with a brand new format and another stellar line-up of award-winning local and national artists. Curated by SJ McArdle, SOLO: Out On The Weekend in association with LMFM, will once again showcase some of the most original and incisive voices in Irish music. Taking the form of a weekend mini-festival, the event will feature performances from A Lazarus Soul, Emma Langford, Steo Wall, Theresa, Caimin Hall, Josh Johnston, Sive and Shaz Oye! Now in its eighth year, SOLO has over the years seen sold out performances from world-class acts like Maria Doyle Kennedy, Mark Geary, Aoife Scott, Niamh Regan and Clare Sands.
Steo Wall is a striking wordsmith and songwriter with a unique musical style, dubbed "Irish soul music" by Damien Dempsey. Hot Press magazine described him as “one of the country's most thrilling talents”.
Steo brings the alchemy of his thrilling live set, blending folk, hip-hop and any number of other eclectic styles, to Highlanes Gallery on Sat 12 Mar at 3pm for this matinee concert.
A master storyteller, from a young age Steo was always fascinated with poetry and melody and loved to bend words to his will. 7 years ago he packed a bag and left his native Dublin, heading out West to immerse himself in the vibrant local music scene of North Clare. His debut album Where I’m From!, co-produced by Luka Bloom, included the single“What’s Wrong With The World Ma?”, a duet with Damien Dempsey. A more recent single, “My People” is a gorgeous paean to Steo’s own legendary musical ancestors from the travelling community.
