Irish National Opera presents: Così fan tutte

Irish National Opera presents: Così fan tutte

Wednesday, 24 May 2023, 7.30pm

The Irish National Opera is set to present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan tutte across various venues in Wexford, Limerick, Dublin, Galway, and Cork from 19 May to 2 June 2023. The opera explores themes of sexual manipulation and forced double infidelity, accompanied by one of Mozart’s most intricate and captivating scores.

The story centres on two sisters, Fiordiligi and Dorabella, and their lovers, Guglielmo and Ferrando, as the cynical Don Alfonso tests the sisters’ faithfulness. The opera combines sharp comedy and heartfelt music, as the characters engage in partner-changing flings, ultimately learning valuable lessons.

Così fan tutte will be sung in Italian with English surtitles, and the running time is approximately three hours, including one interval. A free online introduction to the opera, titled Così fan tutte…In Focus, featuring speaker Deborah Kelleher, is scheduled for 16 May at 7pm.

Priority booking for Dublin performances opens for INO Members at Advocate level on 19 May, with general booking available on 20 May.
