Welcome to Selim’s world. He’s in his kitchen. Restless and hungry. He is confined to home because of Covid-19. It’s Ramadan. And he hasn’t eaten all day. Welcome to Irish National Opera’s Seraglio, a new mini-series created under lockdown.

Director Caitríona McLaughlin and a cast headed by soprano Claudia Boyle with Peter Whelan conducting the Irish Chamber Orchestra present scenes from Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio every Tuesday and Thursday over four weeks from Tuesday 7 July. INO can guarantee that none of the principal singers, none of the orchestral players, and neither the conductor nor director, nor the video and sound designers of this new mini-series met in any context other than cyberspace during the preparation of the eight episodes that will be streamed on from Tuesday 7 July.

Seraglio the mini-series streams on on Tuesday 7,  Thursday 9, Tuesday 14,  Thursday 16,  Tuesday 21,   Thursday 23, Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 July,  with each new episode available from 6pm
