Writer in Residence, University College Cork
The Arts Council, in partnership with University College Cork (UCC), is inviting applications for the Writer in Residence position for 2025. This scheme is open to mid-career and established writers working in prose fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, or children’s literature.
The residency, worth €30,000, is funded by the Arts Council (€20,000) and UCC (€10,000). From January to August 2025, the writer will focus on their personal practice. From September to December 2025, they will engage with students and staff, offering workshops, public events, and mentoring. The role includes teaching a Creative Writing MA workshop for one semester and delivering a public reading or event.
Applicants must be resident in Ireland, have a proven publishing record, and not have participated in a similar residency in 2024. Applications, including a detailed proposal, artist’s statement, and CV, should be submitted to englishdepartment [at] ucc.ie by 5:30 PM on 3 October 2024.
