Chamber Choir Ireland @ Kilkenny Arts Festival 2019

Friday, 16 August 2019, 3.30pm

After its sold-out, late-night concerts exploring choral works through the ages, Chamber Choir Ireland returns to the Festival with a radical new approach.

Led by celebrated Norwegian conductor Grete Pedersen, the choir performs an exciting suite of contemporary pieces by a wealth of European composers. Featuring Louis Andriessen’s gorgeous Un Beau Baiser, as well as recent works by leading Irish composers Rhona Clarke and Deirdre McKay.

Programme:
Anne Boyd As I Crossed a Bridge of Dreams
Louis Andriessen Un beau baiser
Ørjan Matre Rite from Orphic Songs
Deirdre McKay sable qui glisse (New Music Dublin Commission – World Premiere)
Rhona Clarke The Kiss
Maja Linderoth Sonata form denatured prose
Kaija Saariaho Nuits, adieux
Contemporary arrangements of Norwegian and Irish folk songs.
