Arts Administration Internship

The intern will gain practical experience in the Irish Writers Centre by supporting staff in day to day administration, and working in our busy reception area. Training will be given in the following: administration, communicating with writers, members and the general public, processing course payments, facilitating and some website management/social media. On completion, the intern will have attained skills in arts administration, customer service, and I.T. as part of a close team. Hours may include half-days or full days and one evening per week or exceptionally a Saturday per month, but we can work with the participants on a very flexible basis, no more than 30 hours per week.

Skills Requirements: The applicant should have good interpersonal skills and enjoy dealing with the public. An interest in literature and/or the arts would be a distinct advantage as well as an interest in social media. All applicants should have proficient computer skills and willing to learn how to use new computer programmes. The ability to work within a team is essential.

Education Requirements: An interest in the arts generally or literature in particular will be an advantage.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship however travel costs will be reimbursed and the intern will receive membership to the centre and a place on a course of their choice.
