Amhrán an Bhonnáin Bhuí

Wednesday, 12 February 2020, 8.00pm

Suite i gContae Liatroma, agus ar chúlra de chás dlí athartha cáiliúil tógtha ag bean Phrotastúnach in aghaidh sagart Caitliceach i 1828, nochtann scéal le himeacht ama, ag nascadh imeachtaí agus daoine thar seacht nglún i bpobal beag iargúlta. Is scéal grámhar agus scéal taibhsiúil chomh maith é ‘Amhrán an Bhonnáin Bhuí’.

Scríofa ag Vincent Woods, aistrithe ag Tomás de Bhaldraithe agus Eoghan MacGiolla Bhríghde, faoi stiúir Maelíosa Stafford; Scór ceoil le Brendan O'Regan, agus tá foireann scothaisteoirí páirteach, ina measc Tara Breathnach….

Set in County Leitrim, and in part, against a background of a famous paternity lawsuit taken by a Protestant woman against a Catholic priest in 1828, a story unravels over time, linking events and people over seven generations in a small rural community. Song of the Yellow Bittern is both a love story and a ghost story.

Written by Vincent Woods, translated by Tomás de Bhaldraithe and Eoghan MacGiollaBhríghde, Directed by Maelíosa Stafford; Musical score by Brendan O’Regan, and features a stellar cast including Tara Breathnach
