Why I gave the above rating:

I only caught two days of this five-day festival, but it's an extraordinary celebration of Irish-language arts, particularly sean-nós singing. The central element is the many competitions for adults and children, including the premier annual sean-nós singing competition, Corn Uí Riada, but there are also dance competitions, live TV and radio broadcasts, concerts and many sessions. And of course it is all through the Irish language. Hearing so many young people speak Irish is one of the most special aspects of the festival, when they are not singing, dancing or playing music with great skill. I often feel the Oireachtas is missed by many in Ireland because it is through Irish, but it's a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Next year it's in Galway city as part of Galway 2020, the European Capital of Culture programme. Definitely worth going. http://www.antoireachtas.ie/
