Renowned Irish Singer Caitríona O’Leary will Join Congresbury Professional Vocal Ensemble Lyrica & Sing Out Loud UK for the First UK Performance of The Wexford Carols

On Saturday 23rd November the celebrated Irish singer Caitríona O’Leary will join the Somerset-based professional vocal ensemble Lyrica together with the Community Choir Sing Out Loud UK, both groups directed by their founder Elizabeth Glen, for a unique holiday performance of The Wexford Carols. The concert will be presented at St. Lawrence Church, Wick St. Lawrence, Weston-Super-Mare and marks the UK premiere of The Wexford Carols. The concert programme will also feature other Christmas choral favorites and admission includes seasonal refreshments.

The Wexford Carols is a collection of 17th and 18th century Irish Christmas songs, mostly lost to history until recently. Considered Ireland’s greatest Christmas music, these spiritually rich and melodically beautiful carols were rediscovered and reconstructed by Caitríona after many years of research. An album of this work, entitled The Wexford Carols, featuring Caitríona and Grammy winners Sir Tom Jones, Rosanne Cash, Rhiannon Giddens, and producer Joe Henry, reached #1 on both the Billboard and Amazon charts.

Caitríona has arranged the carols for Lyrica and Sing Out Loud UK and will serve as soloist and join the ensembles for the concert.
