Don’t miss the return of the internationally renowned Fidelio Trio to Belvedere House, Drumcondra, for the 11th Winter Chamber Music Festival from Friday 24th November to Sunday 26th November. Curated by the distinguished Fidelio Trio - Darragh Morgan (violin), Tim Gill (cello) and Mary Dullea (piano) – this year’s festival features four world premieres by the acclaimed Irish composers Siobhán Cleary, Seán Ó Dálaigh, Fergal Dowling, and Gráinne Mulvey, as well as much loved works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schoenberg, De Falla, and Chabrier. Fidelio Trio will be joined by guest artists Fiona Kelly (flute), Anna Devin (Soprano), Francesco Paolo Scola (Clarinet), and Jane Atkins (Viola). The festival will open on the evening of Friday 24th November with a compelling concert, ‘Symphony in Miniature’, in the intimate 18th-century Belvedere House Library, featuring well-known favourites by Mozart, Schoenberg, and Chabrier. Join us on Saturday 25th November in the scenic upper room of the National Botanic Gardens for ‘Species’, featuring music inspired by the teeming life of the gardens. This free lunchtime concert features four entirely new works by Irish composers Fergal Dowling, Siobhán Cleary, Seán Ó Dálaigh, and Gráinne Mulvey, especially written for the violinist Darragh Morgan and electronics. This special event will also feature musical gems by Alfred Schnittke and Maddalena Laura Lombardini Sirmen. ‘Culture File with Luke Clancy’ is our pre-concert event at 6:30pm on Saturday evening. The Fidelio Trio will be joined by Luke Clancy of Culture File, RTÉ Lyric FM, and renowned Irish composers Rhona Clarke and John Buckley, both of whom have created new music for the trio in previous festivals. This track record of commissions is testament to the Fidelio Trio’s incredible work as ambassadors for Irish music. Hear the stories of these pieces that have travelled the globe. You won’t want to miss this inspiring event. The late evening concert ‘Andalusian Echoes’ will follow at 8pm, featuring Manuel De Falla’s evocative Suite Populaire Espagnole, Isaac Albéniz’s Triana and Guillaume Lekeu’s Piano Quartet. In a special afternoon concert onSunday 26th November at 3pm, Fidelio Trio and soprano Anna Devin will bring the festival to a close with a feast of classical favourites, including five of Beethoven’s captivating Irish folk songs, his magnificent ‘Archduke’ Piano Trio, and Mozart’s exquisite L’Amerò sarò costante.

The ‘virtuosic Fidelio Trio’ (Sunday Times) are Darragh Morgan, violin, Tim Gill, cello and Mary Dullea, piano. Shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, the Fidelio Trio are enthusiastic champions of the piano trio genre, performing a diverse range of repertoire on concert stages across the world. They are broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3, RTÉ Lyric FM, WNYC, NPR and featured on Sky Arts documentaries. This special pre-concert event features an in-person recording of a roundtable discussion with Luke Clancy, Culture File, Mary Dullea, Fidelio Trio, and renowned Irish composers Rhona Clarke and John Buckley, both of whom have created new music for the trio in previous festivals. Hear about the fascinating subject of commissions and the creation of new works of art that have travelled the globe with the Fidelio Trio. This is a free admission  event and will be recorded by Luke Clancy of Culture File for RTÉ Lyric FM.
