Neil Diamond’s Hot August Night – The Concert

Friday, 14 August 2020, 8.00pm

One of the greatest live albums of all time re-created by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with Peter Byrne, whose amazing ability to evoke Neil Diamond has been acclaimed by the star himself.

It's nearly 50 years since Neil Diamond stepped on stage at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles with an orchestra and recorded what is still known as one of the greatest live albums of all time. Now Hot August Night will be re-created in its original format by multi-award-winning performer Peter Byrne and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, packed with classic songs like Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, I Am . . . I Said, Crunchy Granola Suite and Cherry, Cherry.

Neil Diamond recently announced retirement from live performing due to illness, leaving many of his fans worldwide saddened at the news, so Peter and the RTÉ CO will salute 50 years of his music with some special moments.

Dublin-born Peter has been selling out these shows in Australia over the last 20 years and a first Irish tour sold out in 2019 so early booking is advised. As one critic wrote, ‘The day I see a better Diamond, will be the day the man himself appears on stage!’ (The Mercury)

‘Thanks for the great tribute show!’ Neil Diamond
