Director of Learning and Engagement

Director of Learning and Engagement

Monday, 1 March 2021, 10.00am

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra is hiring a Director of Learning and Engagement.

The Director of Learning and Engagement will have an in-depth understanding of the arts and a strong commitment to learning, outreach and citizen engagement. An ability to be strategic, creative and a clear commitment to enrich people’s lives through the arts is essential. This does not necessarily have to be in an orchestral environment. However, a good understanding of music engagement and education is highly desirable for this role.

The right candidate will have worked in partnerships to deliver sustained education and engagement activities, and will have the ability to think strategically, and manage sometimes conflicting priorities and peaks in workload, to deliver large-scale arts engagement projects. The ability to manage budgets and the financial detail of projects, including commitments to funders, is a prerequisite.

Most importantly, the successful candidate will have a belief in the opportunities, benefits and joy that engagement with orchestral music affords. They will make a commitment to bring this to the widest possible range of people in Scotland and beyond.
