The ICO under Widmann present Mendelssohn’s magnificent Reformation Symphony No. 5, which celebrated the triumph of Protestantism over Catholicism, building, slowly in layers through the orchestra, to a majestic finale. Turn up the volume, this is a cracker! This is from a concert recording at UCH back in 2015.
