Brian Eno & Baltic Sea Philharmonic (9pm)

Monday, 30 October 2023, 9.00pm

The Southbank Centre has announced that Brian Eno will perform his new live concert programme, 'Ships,' in two exclusive UK performances. Scheduled for Monday, 30th October, at the Royal Festival Hall, with performances at 6.30pm and 9pm (each lasting 1 hour 15 minutes), these concerts mark a milestone in Eno's five-decade career as it is his first live tour in a solo capacity, accompanied by an orchestra.

The 'Ships' concert programme, originally commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia, will premiere on 21 October at the 2023 Venice Biennale Musica in Italy (where he will also receive with the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award). Eno's performances will be accompanied by the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, orchestrated and conducted by Kristjan Järvi. The ensemble will also feature actor Peter Serafinowicz, guitarist Leo Abrahams, and programmer/keyboardist Peter Chilvers.

The performances will be a mix of new and classic Eno compositions, including an orchestral adaptation of his 2016 album, 'The Ship'. The concert series will commence in Venice's Teatro la Fenice, with additional concerts at the Berliner Philharmonie, La Seine Musicale in Paris, TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, and conclude at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre. This final event in the UK will represent the only UK date in the tour.

Tickets for the two performances at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall will be available from 7 June for members and from 8 June for the general public.
