Davy Lyons

Davy Lyons

Saturday, 23 March 2019, 8.30pm

Davy Lyons is a singer-songwriter from Wexford, based in Barcelona. For the past three years he has dedicated his life to the sole pursuit of music and writing. Evidence, his debut album, is the first fruit of those endeavours.

Recorded with his band of handsome and skilled caballeros (Juan Pablo Balcazar, Toni Saigi and Nacho López) in Angel Sound Studio in Barcelona, it was produced with subtle and astute guidance by Arthur Jeffes of Penguin Cafe, with the expertise of sound engineer Miquel Mestres and mastered by Mario Alberni from the legendary Kadifornia Mastering. The sound is natural, style elegant and the voice and words are central.

Filtered through the tradition of Irish folk music his songs are his self-investigation, songs that tell stories in ballad form and forms more modern, with a poetic density that is both intense and rich in lyrical imagery.

“I often think that if I don’t write life is lost, that somehow all music or writing or painting or sculpture is just a game played in an attempt to cheat death, our inevitable and ultimate defeat. And so,
music and writing, my work, is my play and story, songs to be shared in ceremony”

This full band show will be the launch of the album in Lyons´s hometown, one of many gigs in 2019 in Ireland, Spain and across Europe. It will be an intimate and emotional night. Join the gathering.
