West Ocean String Quartet

Sunday, 19 April 2020, 8.00pm

The internationally acclaimed West Ocean String Quartet (WOSQ) marks its 21st anniversary this year with an innovative recording project which celebrates the traditional music of Ireland’s Atlantic coast. The recording, entitled 'Atlantic Edge' includes swinging barn dances of West Donegal and the grand song-airs and rousing polkas of Kerry, arranged for classical quartet by WOSQ founder Neil Martin. To coincide with the release of this new album, the Quartet will embark on a substantial tour across April and May. Supported by the Arts Council Touring Award, they will perform from Ballyvourney to Letterkenny, taking in Achill Island and Inis Oirr along the way.

The Quartet’s members are Séamus McGuire (violin), Neil Martin (cello), Niamh Crowley (violin) and Ken Rice (viola). https://westoceanstringquartet.com/about/
