Charity April Fool’s Gala with Rainer Hersch

Charity April Fool’s Gala with Rainer Hersch

Saturday, 1 April 2023, 7.30pm

Conductor, pianist, comedian and broadcaster Rainer Hersch, who has performed in over thirty countries across the globe and worked with hundreds of orchestras, is now conducting a charity music concert fusing both the spectacles of a classic music performance with innovative comedic elements.

For the unique evening of music and comedy, Hersch and the Rainer Hersch Orchestra will be joined by a host of star performances including Help Musicians’ President and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, radio presenter Zeb Soanes as narrator, bass-baritone James Oldfield, jazz singer, songwriter and comedian Earl Okin, and The English Chamber Orchestra.

The night is in aid of charity Help Musicians, to raise vital funds for struggling musicians after their research in Autumn 2022 found that nearly half of UK musicians (49%) say they are ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ concerned they will be forced to leave the industry.

Help Musicians has responded with a raft of support measures to help musicians sustain their careers - including more investment in health & wellbeing, funding options to support new music creation and touring opportunities, and guidance and practical help to avoid financial crisis. Funds raised from this concert will go towards this vital work.
