Feis Ceoil 2023
Feis Ceoil 2023 will be held at the RDS from March 20-31, and the competitions will be fully live, with some highlight events recorded and broadcast later for remote audiences.
Feis Ceoil is an annual 12-day national classical music festival held at the RDS in Dublin. The festival provides a platform for young classical musicians to showcase their talent in an intense competitive live performance setting before judges and audiences. The event aims to find the newest talent in the country, and over 190 individual music competitions are held, attracting thousands of young classical musicians from the 32 counties of Ireland. The festival, which has been held since 1896, has supported almost every classical Irish musician, and well over half a million musicians have competed at the event. Past competitors include James Joyce, Count John McCormack, and more recently, pianists John O'Conor and Finghin Collins, singers like Tara Erraught & Celine Byrne and comedian Risteard Cooper.
This year, a selection of the most popular competitions will be filmed and posted online the day after the competition. Additionally, a special Gala Concert featuring a selection of the most outstanding competitors will be held at the National Concert Hall on April 26.
Feis Ceoil 2023 will showcase a range of competitions, including the Senior Musical Theatre on Monday, March 20, the Choir of the Year Final on Tuesday, March 21, the Dramatic Cup (Opera) Final on Friday, March 24, the Morris Grant Bursary (Senior Piano Final) on Thursday, March 30, and the Gervase Elwes Memorial Cup (Senior Vocal Final) on Friday, March 31.
