Ireland in Germany 2024: Calls for Expressions of Interest

Friday, 28 April 2023, 5.00pm

Culture Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs are inviting expressions of interest from artists, ensembles, and cultural organisations to participate in an Irish season in Germany in 2024. The initiative aims to showcase the contemporary Irish arts and culture across Germany.

The joint partnership between Culture Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs called Ireland in Germany 2024 is intended to deepen Ireland’s cultural relationship with Germany, a key partner in Europe. The objective of Global Ireland 2025 is to strengthen Ireland’s global cultural presence and impact, with a strategic priority on arts and creativity as a key expression of its identity.

Culture Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs have allocated a minimum of €2m for this initiative to present a diverse, contemporary, high-quality program across artistic disciplines in various locations across Germany, including intimate to high-profile venues, institutions, and festivals, to develop German audiences for Irish arts.

Irish professional artists usually based in Ireland covering all art forms at German venues, festivals, galleries, and institutions can apply for funding under Strand 1 provided by Culture Ireland. Both Irish and German organizations programming touring Irish artists are eligible to submit proposals for this strand.

Projects involving Irish artists and organizations based in Germany can apply for funding under Strand 2 provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs. German organizations and institutions programming events with artists based in Germany, and Irish diaspora organizations based in Germany, are eligible to apply for this strand.

Interested Irish artists and companies, including those based in Germany, or German venues, presenters, or agents can submit their outline projects with budgetary information to irelandingermany [at] cultureireland.gov.ie entitled Ireland in Germany 2024. The submission should not exceed two pages, excluding budget documentation, and must contain an outline of the concept, the approach to practical realization, the proposed participants, the funding strand, and how the proposal will showcase Irish creativity and/or highlight Ireland’s contemporary creative strengths in Germany.

Outline projects can be submitted until 5 pm Irish time on Friday 28th April 2023, and further proposals may be considered on a rolling basis at a later stage, subject to funding availability.
