The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (BVOF) has added a special new 'Voices of Ukraine' performance to their programme this June.

The event, which takes place at Dromore Yard in Waterford on Sunday June 5th at 4pm, replaces the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Recital, which was cancelled earlier this month in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Tickets are priced from €20-€40 and all ticket proceeds will be donated to UNICEF's Ukrainian appeal to support children impacted by the war.

'BVOF Voices of Ukraine' will feature internationally accomplished Ukrainian artists, including soprano Ruslana Koval, baritone Stanislav Kuflyuk and pianist Iryna Krasnovska. Festival organisers expect tickets to sell out very quickly with huge interest already expressed in the event.

BVOF Artistic Director, Dieter Kaegi, has remarkably managed to arrange a replacement event for the cancelled BVOF 2022 Bolshoi recital at such short notice. He said,

"This finale recital at Dromore Yard as part of BVOF 2022, will now feature a trio of outstanding Ukrainian artists. We urge everyone to come and support this exceptional and unique event, in a stunning location along the magnificent Blackwater Valley."

All ticket proceeds from the event will be donated to UNICEF's work supporting children in Ukraine.

Opera Festival Director Eamonn Carroll said, "The 'BVOF Voices of Ukraine' concert was born out of our need to do something to support the humanitarian efforts in the Ukraine and the many artists who have been impacted in the region. We are shining a spotlight on the incredible talent that this country has to offer, whilst also raising much needed funds to support children impacted by the war."

Billed as Ireland's unmissable summer opera festival, the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival returns this summer for seven magical days from 31st of May to the 6th of June 2022.

The festival has embarked on an even bigger celebration of opera, classical music, and the arts than ever before. Highlights include the headline opera Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice with the award-winning Irish Baroque Orchestra and CoisCéim Dance Theatre, a new 'Discover Singing' programme, concerts in the breath-taking Dromore Yard, a James Joyce spoken recital, dance and orchestral collaborations, free open air lunchtime performances in towns across Waterford and Cork, and unique dining experiences!

Artistic Director Dieter Kaegi has developed a creative and imaginative programme for all to enjoy during its 13th season. BVOF will showcase emerging Irish talent alongside established international artists to bring opera to life in a variety of unique and stunning locations like Lismore Castle, Salterbridge House, St Carthage's Cathedral, Villierstown Church and Tourin House along the beautiful Blackwater Valley.

The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival is a living, breathing opera and classical music experience – made possible with the support grants from The Arts Council, Waterford City & County Council, Waterford Leader, and Faílte Ireland. The festival's lead sponsors are Kildare Village, Marsh, AIB and the John Pollard Foundation.
