This year’s Solo@Home in association with LMFM, has a new format and a stunningly diverse range of artists performing from the intimacy of their own homes.

The series lineup includes: Pugwash and Duckworth Lewis Method founder and pop songwriting legend Thomas Walsh, Nigerian-Irish performance poet Dagogo Hart, Choice Award nominated songwriter Niamh Regan, Scullion and Tír Na nÓg legend Sonny Condell, Turn singer and songwriter Oliver Cole, Beloved and internationally renowned folk singer Niamh Parsons, Traditional fiddle player, composer and singer Róisín Ward Morrow and Drogheda’s own Urban Folk songwriter Seán Mathews. Episode#1 kicks off with Niamh Regan, Ollie Cole, Niamh Parsons, Dagogo Hart and Sonny Condell.

Once again curated by SJ McArdle and edited by Adrian Taaffe, these eight episodes will feature longer bespoke performances from each artist and will premiere on Droichead Arts Centre’s YouTube channel every Sunday for 8 weeks at 11am.

SJ McArdle is an Irish songwriter and musician, Artist in Association at Droichead Arts Centre and is known for his work in contemporary Irish folk band Kern from 2013 to 2020. More recently, as a solo artist, SJ has been working on a project called Port, a song-cycle based around research into the stories of Drogheda’s historic Port and an album is on the way. His songs and performances have been featured in radio, film and television and he has toured extensively, nationally and internationally over the past twenty years.

Oliver Cole is a singer and songwriter originally hailing from Kells in Co Meath. He was the lead singer and songwriter of the powerful rock trio TURN in the late ’90s and early 2000s. He has since then released three solo albums which have all been critically acclaimed. His latest release, entitled ‘Father, Brother, Son’ was released in Nov 2020 and has garnered praise and acclaim from all quarters. The album was awarded album of the week by RTE and Newstalk and the Irish times to name a few. Oliver now lives in North Co Dublin where he continues to write and record music.

Sonny Condell, an integral part of the Irish music scene since the early `70s, a musical career spanning 45 years, from the heady days with “Tír Na nÓg” which landed him on the biggest stages in the world, to the truly fantastic “Scullion” and numerous solo albums. Perhaps one of Irelands greatest songwriters, Sonny Condell is the real McCoy. "Four decades equals a remarkable repertoire in Scullion's world, most of it drawn from the creative genius of Condell, whose subtle lyricism and matchless melody lines bear scant kinship to anyone else on the planet" Siobhán Long -- Irish Times June 2008 Sonny and the other members of Scullion are currently at work finishing recording on next album, which will be released later this year.

Dagogo Hart is a Dublin based poet, writer, playwright, performer and spoken word artist. Entertaining audiences in open mics and poetry slams such as circle sessions and Slam Sunday, led him to winning the Slam Sunday Grand slam and qualifying to perform at Electric Picnic under the Cuirt International Poetry festival in 2017. Since then he has performed for festivals like Mother tongues, St. Patricks, Dublin Fringe, Drogheda literary festival, Spirit of Folk, Body and Soul, Loud Poets Scotland and First fortnight. In 2018, he co-founded a poetry collective called WeAreGriot; A poetry collective that curates art events around poetry, with FeliSpeaks. His personal works include; RedBeard Paddy (a poetry short film), Africa Day 2018 champion, Lantern Smoke (runner up for Button Poetry Video contest). Dagogo’s poetry is inspired by his hometown in Lagos and his experiences since moving to Ireland. He writes on personal as well as societal issues and always strives to dispense truth in all his works.

Dagogo is accompanied by Adam Garrett, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Kildare based in Dublin. Making a career as a session musician for artists like Eve Belle and Shiv, Garrett started releasing solo material in 2019 whilst scoring independent short films and theatre productions. Notably "Boychild" which sold out during its run at Dublin Fringe Festival. Releasing his debut EP "Casual" earlier this year to positive reviews, Garrett was also involved with Choice nominated album "All The Leaves Are Falling" by Nealo, writing the majority of the instrumentals. His debut album is due to release early next year.

Niamh Parsons has come to be known as one of the most distinctive voices in Irish music. Her voice has drawn comparisons to such venerated singers as Dolores Keane, June Tabor and Sandy Denny. Described in the Boston Herald as both emotionally haunting and tonally as clear as crystal, Niamh’s albums have been ‘must-have’ collector’s items for any lover of songs and singing. With 8 CDs to her name, Niamh has gathered a body of songs from many sources, both traditional and modern songwriters. Since 1999 Niamh has been playing in a duet with Ennis based Graham Dunne. There is a spiritual bond between Niamh and Graham when they perform, which draws out the essence of the songs. Throughout her career, Niamh has performed with a wide variety of artists, and has appeared at nearly every prestigious folk festival on either side of the Atlantic.

Galway artist Niamh Regan has long been lauded as one of Ireland’s most promising folk talents. The Irish Times described her teenage demos as “bursting with potential” and at seventeen this precocious folksinger won a Paul Brady Blás scholarship to study flute and guitar in the University of Limerick. Here she formed the trad/ bluegrass band Juhn Echo and once again drew plaudits from The Irish Times who highlighted “Niamh Regan’s stunning vocals”. After completing a degree in music, Niamh released her debut solo EP Tried To in 2017 and follow up single What To Do in 2018 earning gushing praise from the likes of Hotpress (“beautifully crafted... captivating”) and Nialler9 (“a timbre that is commanding and wise”). Extensive airplay from RTE Radio 1 and Folk Radio UK soon followed along with high profile slots at Electric Picnic, Body & Soul and Knockanstockan.
