Tamara Licheli, Jonathan Plowright, Francois-Zavier Poizat and the Albion Quartet
Tamara Licheli will introduce the Georgian composer's Khorumi as well as playing better known Mozart and Schumann. Jonathan Plowright is joined by the Albion Quartet to perform the Quintet No 1, by Zarebski. Up to now, he has been relatively unknown outside his native Poland. He was born in Zhytomyr (today in Ukraine) in 1854. This work is influenced by Lizst and Wagner. In 1880 Zarębski was appointed professor of piano at the Brussels Conservatory but died of TB just a few years later at the age of 31. Francois-Xavier Poizat concludes the concert withRavel's Gaspard de la Nuit.
