Handel's Messiah with Irish Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir Ireland
NCH CLASSICAL LIVESTREAM SERIES
Chamber Choir Ireland
Irish Baroque Orchestra
Peter Whelan, conductor
Anna Devin, soprano
First premiéred in Dublin in 1742, Handel's 'Messiah' was a success from the day of its first performance on Fishamble Street, so much so that a second performance had to be scheduled for a few weeks later. The piece endures huge popularity to this day and tells the universal story of triumph over trial, where life's sorrows and despairs are met by overriding hope and unbridled joy.
This performance, given by Ireland's flagship baroque orchestra and chamber choir directed by Irish conductor Peter Whelan, uses period instruments to capture the sound world of the original Dublin performance, and transport the audience back to that first performance now nearly 300 years ago.
The concert will be available to tickets holders for 48 hours following the performance.
Tickets €15 exclusively from dice.fm.
