Pianist John O'Conor is widely recognised as one of the great Beethoven interpreters of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Having studied Beethoven from an early age, in 1973 he was unanimously awarded First Prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna which launched his international career.

His recordings of all 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas and Piano Concertos (with the London Symphony Orchestra) have garnered him much international acclaim, the Washington Post describing his playing as “the kind of flawless touch that makes an audience gasp“.

John has been a regular and much- loved recitalist and concerto soloist at the National Concert Hall. In 2017 John was the recipient of the National Concert Hall's Lifetime Achievement Award. In the 2004/2005 International Concert Series he performed all thirty-two Beethoven Piano Sonatas in eight concertos.

On December 13th as part of the NCH Livestream series John will perform the final three sonatas considered the pinnacle of his works.
