BBC Northern Ireland employs more than 500 staff, working across TV, Radio & Online. We produce a high standard of locally originated programme output across a range of genres, from News, Factual Documentaries and Current Affairs to Events.

You will get the chance to gain experience across TV, Radio and Online in different genres and across various platforms.

These placements provide a taster experience of working within the BBC and broadcasting industry. It is aimed at individuals who want to work in the media and would like to find out more about the range of jobs potentially available. You’ll have the chance to see television and radio production first hand. You’ll spend time with those who produce and co-ordinate the content across TV, Radio and Online. You’ll learn from the specialists who capture and post-produce the content and the people who provide engineering and IT support across all aspects of programme making and transmission.

The placement may involve spending time at outside broadcasts, single camera shoots, studio recordings or in edit or graphic design suites and will give you a great overview of the various aspects of both television and radio production.

Please note that some days might start early or finish late.

Are you the right candidate?
We want people who are creative, keen to learn and are up for a challenge. In Media we work in teams where everyone has a role to play. We’re looking for people who are friendly and good communicators.

We work at a fast pace. So you’ll need to be enthusiastic and motivated to keep up.

We take our jobs seriously, and really enjoy what we do. If you’re passionate about the Media industry and are prepared to, ask lots of questions and contribute ideas, you’ll fit right in.

Background/Experience
You don’t need a media qualification to apply. You just need to be able to show us that you’re passionate about Television and have a genuine desire to find out what the industry has to offer.

Work Experience duration 3-10 days (dependent on the placement)
Location – Belfast & Foyle
Opportunities available throughout March 2020 to June 2020
