Jazz Guitar Faculty
The Juilliard School in New York is currently seeking applicants for a Jazz Guitar Faculty position within the College Division. The selected candidate will have the responsibility of teaching undergraduate and graduate level jazz guitar majors. This entails conducting weekly applied lessons, studio classes, and potentially coaching chamber music. Additionally, attendance at annual auditions and juries is required.
The faculty member will also be expected to actively participate in the school community, attending departmental meetings and students’ recitals. The ideal candidate will possess a significant national and international reputation as a teacher, with a demonstrated track record of preparing exceptional developing guitarists for successful careers in music. They should have significant professional experience as a performer, including solo, duo, and ensemble settings.
In-depth knowledge of various jazz guitar styles, such as rhythm guitar, gypsy and banjo styles, swing, bebop, and post-bop, is essential. The ability to attract and recruit high-quality college-level students and articulate a forward-looking and inclusive vision of artistry and professionalism in conservatory student training is also required.
